Xixian Theme Day of the Third Summer Camp of International Students kicked off on July 14 in Xixian New Area, Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The camp was hosted by the Shaanxi Education Department, Xi'an Education Bureau and Xi'an University, while the theme day was hosted by the publicity department of the Party committee of Xixian New Area and the education and health bureau of Xixian New Area.

The event aims to strengthen exchange and cooperation between countries and regions along the Belt and Road and increase students' understanding of Xi'an, the starting point of the Belt and Road.

A total of 66 international students from 25 countries and regions, including Pakistan, Poland, Russia, USA, South Korea, and Kyrgyzstan, attended the event.

At the start of the event, students dressed in Chinese costumes as they read The Reed, a poem in the Classic of Poetry, in Xixian's Shijingli town. They also showed strong interest in tai chi as they performed with other Chinese pupils.

A student from Pakistan said the activity had broadened his horizons, while a student from Kazakhstan hoped to attend the event again with his friends so he could introduce them to traditional Chinese culture.

Students also enjoyed several activities related to traditional Chinese culture, including the appreciation of Guqin, an ancient Chinese instrument, the drama Fengyasong, tea art and poem chanting at the Chinese Guqin Museum and Classic of Poetry Culture Study Center.

This year's event attracted more participants than the previous two years and has garnered more international influence and attention from universities in various countries along the Belt and Road.

Shijingli town is the first of its kind in China to be based on the Classic of Poetry. The scenery, houses, music, and characters in the book all come to life in the town.
