Drinking water project helps people of Jinghe
The launching ceremony of a project to improve rural drinking water was held on April 3 in Beiguan village, Jinghe New City, Xixian New Area in Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
Wang Jiuzhou, director of the Jinghe street office, Yan Peng, deputy director of the Jinghe poverty alleviation office, and Xia Peng, general manager of Shaanxi Youshikang Environmental Protection Engineering Co Ltd, attended the ceremony.
The project was hosted by the urban and rural administration of the administrative committee of Jinghe New City and the poverty alleviation office of Xixian New Area, and cohosted by the Jinggan street office and Youshikang.
A number of automatic water purifiers have already been installed in 55 villages in the Jinggan, Gaozhang, Lechong and Chongwen areas of Jinghe, selling pure water at a low price and even giving a certain amount out for free to poor households.
On behalf of the administrative committee and the street office, Yan and Wang distributed water cards and buckets to the poor, who were also taught how to operate the machines.
The new city also offered the poor some desk and wall calendars with the poverty alleviation policies printed on them.
The project is essential to improving the quality of people's drinking water and lays a foundation for promoting poverty alleviation.
