Xixian displays traditional culture at art exhibition
An art exhibition was held in the Xixian New Area, bringing traditional culture to the public in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on Aug 18.
A warm-up cultural activity of the World Xi'an Entrepreneurs Convention held from Aug 19 to 20, the exhibition was hosted by the Xixian Department of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication and the development zone's publicity department.
Wang Fei, deputy director of the Xixian administrative committee, addressed the opening ceremony. Hundreds of representatives from propaganda departments and cultural enterprises, along with art lovers in Xixian, attended the activity.
Thousands of works by famous artists were on display, including calligraphy, paintings, ceramic and stone tablets, with some dating back over 600 years ago.
Renowned calligraphers and ceramist also performed at the exhibition, demonstrating for draw art lovers how masterpieces are crafted.
Zhong Mingshan, former vice-president of the Chinese Calligraphers' Association, showcased most of his private collection at the event to lend his support.
"Culture and the arts should be used to serve the people and society, and each of us is supposed to help bolster Xixian's culture industry," Zhong said.
Wang Gaimin, secretary general of the Shaanxi's Calligrapher's Association, highly praised the event. "Xixian boasts abundant traditional cultural resources and we should raise awareness for carrying forward traditional culture," Wang said.
